Birthday blessings

I have had such an awesome birthday this year!!!! I just want to count
my blessings. :) I lot has happened over the year. A serious
relationship of 5 years (on and off) ended. I lived with the Thorn's.
Wow!!! I really love them!!! They are family. I have survived my
first year teaching kinder. I moved into my first apartment. :) and I
love it. It is a little quiet, though. I have never lived by myself. I
have a new church family. Which, I have been looking for, my whole
life. And it is so awesome to hang out with them!!! My mom is almost
finished with chemo (diagnosed with lung cancer November 2007). The
parents in my class are just so great!!! They know just what to do and
be there for me so that I have been able to teach their child.

They threw me a surprise party for my birthday!!! My kindergartners
tried so hard to keep it from me. They wanted to tell me so bad. They
did a good job for the most part. My favorite was when we got to my
decorated clasroom door, they sang happy birthday to me. It was so
cute!!! We even had a piñata.

I went to dinner with my dad and family last night. My mom and sisters
and nephws, and have plans for Friday and Saturday.Yah!!!!

The Escape

My mom and I are still at the hospital. They are supposedly observing
her. We decided we were going to escape and get her hair cut. I
chopped off my hair to donate it. My hair was not long enough to make
a wig. My mom cut her hair the same as mine :) we made it back to the
room with no trouble. Nurses were not too worried that they could not
find us. I wonder if they even were. They said they didn't know where
we were and why we left. We didn't tell them anything. I used my mini
staightener on her hair. It looks fab!!! My step-dad will be stating
with her tonight. And hopefully tomorrow will be discharged. I hope my
mom gets admitted to an inpatient room. Bc I know he will not sleep on
the floor like I did. I do not reccommend it to anyone.

Change of plans

Soooo...

I am back at md Anderson with my mom. She is doing ok. It is getting
harder on her though. A PICC line was put in. She is not able to get a
port until June. Which makes no sense to me. A lot of cancer patients
need a port bc the chemo is so hard on the body. She is currently
having problems with the line. They are doing an ultrasound right now
to see where it is swollen and in pain. We will then proceed to have a
chest xray. This all has to be done before we can get chemo and go
home. It was going to a fast day. But oh well. As long as my mom is
healthy, it's ok.

I chopped off my hair again. This time I have a good reason. I wanted
to be able to donate my hair to locks of love. But it has to 10
inches. Mine was only at 7 inches. So I chopped it off anyways. it's
super short and I love it!!!
